Starting info, stats, and such

While I generally like low level games I understand peoples desire for the upper levels.

Everyone starts out in this game at level 1. I plan on running it into the midteens. Once the game gets going I plan on having the starting level raised to 1/2 of average group level. This should keep some people from being too far behind and reduce problems with people being level 2 in a mid teen game.

Who knows perhaps even epic may be in the horizon.


Stats

Charisma
I use a alternative rule that your charisma is also your strenght of soul and grip onto mortal life. When you hit 0 hitpoints you do not die. You can only drop into the negative equal to your charisma score. So if you have a 10 charisma you can goto -10 before letting go and passing on. I do this for several reasons. One charisma typically is a dumping stat for players. They put a 3 in it and play that way. I dont mind it but I figure with 3rd edition since charisma is also a measure of ones soul(self worth and self esteem) then putting a 3 in it would mean your character does not care to stay on this world that long.

Psionics
Now In the D&D book there is a optional rule/standard rule for dealing with Psionics. One is to treat it as a different type of Magic another is treating it as something different entirely. I like the idea of it not being another type of Magic. So Psionics is not restricted by Anti-magic Field. While spell resistance gives resistances to both Psionics and Magic resistance. Detect magic and detect psionics would tell you two different stories about a room with magic and psionic items.

Also note as your character levels if you are a wizard you cannot choose the spells out of this book unless you find a scroll or spend downtime in research.
